Wikimedia Italia has a financial investment policy to ensure that its assets are used in a wise, ethical and sustainable way. This is according to its own bylaws, especially the values of good management, transparency and respect of the commons like free culture.

Criteria

For the accounts management, two criteria in particular have been established:

  • «strive to keep a cash level sufficient at any time to support the next 6 months of expected cash flow»;
  • «only buy government bonds or sustainable securities, meaning securities with a ICCR/CDP/PRI mandate or an ESG/SRI assessment better than the average (for instance according to MSCI ESG, or at least 4/5 stars in the Morningstar ESG assessment)».

These criteria have been adopted by a resolution of the board of trustees in March 2018.
