Cristian Consonni è scientific project officer presso lo "European Centre for Algoritmic Transparency" (ECAT) ad Ispra (VA), dove si occupa di Computational Social Science, ovvero dello studio dei dinamiche che riguardano le comunità online e dello studio dei fenomenio sociali attraverso le piattaforme digitali. Fisico di formazione, ha ottenuto un dottorato in informatica presso l'Università di Trento nel 2019. È stato membro del direttivo di Wikimedia Italia, il capitolo italiano di Wikimedia Foundation, la fondazione non-profit che sostiene Wikipedia dal 2010 al 2017. Ha fatto parte del comitato organizzativo internazionale di Wiki Loves Monuments, un concorso fotografico per documentare il patrimonio culturale mondiale su Wikipedia, entrato nel Guinness dei Primati come "concorso fotografico più grande di sempre" nel 2011 e nel 2012. Cristian Consonni obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Trento in 2019 with a thesis focused on knowledge extraction from links between Wikipedia articles. His research interests span the fields of computational social science, data mining, network science, graph algorithms, machine learning, and AI. Before joining ECAT, he worked at Eurecat - Centre Centre Tecnològic de Catalunya in Barcelona, where he led several EU-funded projects studying social networks, digital communities, and mobility. Cristian is a strong advocate for free software and open knowledge and has been a Wikipedia editor since 2007.

Cristian Consonni - Wikipediano (dal 2007), ama descriversi come "Free software activist, physicist and storyteller". Dopo essersi follemente innamorato di GNU/Linux e del software libero mentre studiava fisica all'università (Milano-Bicocca) ha scoperto Wikipedia e il mondo Wikimedia. Dal 2008 è socio di Wikimedia Italia, il capitolo italiano ufficiale di Wikimedia Foundation, e dal 2010 al 2017 ha fatto parte del consiglio direttivo dell'associazione. Dopo un dottorato in informatica all'Università di Trento, ora lavora come scientific project officer per lo "European Centre for Algoritmic Transparency" (ECAT) ad Ispra (VA), dove continua a studiare Wikipedia e i fenomeni sociali on-line. Cristian Consonni is a research scientist in computational social science and Wikipedian.
