Spreaker ❤️ Free Cultural Works initiative

This is a stub of an initiative called Spreaker ❤️ Free Cultural works.

For Wikimedia Italia

Wikimedia Italia could start a collaboration with Spreaker to help their users in generating Free Cultural Works.

For Spreaker

Spreaker could start a collaboration with Wikimedia Italia to identify the best strategy to reach and welcome authors of Free Cultural Works.

Actual issue

Actually in the Podcast creation page there is not a standard way to pick a Free Cultural Works license.

Proposed solution

For authors, add the ability to pick a Free Cultural Works license for a podcast.

Example integration
Pick a license for your podcast!
Radio button on.png All rights reserved logo.svg All rights reserved All rights reserved. No edits. Play only on authorized platforms.
Radio button off.png Cc by-nc icon.svg Attribution-NonCommercial Some rights reserved. Allow everything but not for commercial purposes. Boost diffusion.
Radio button off.png CC-BY-SA Yellow.svg Attribution-ShareAlike Some rights reserved. Allow everything caring about avoiding additional restrictions (copyleft). Super-boost diffusion. (❤️)
Radio button off.png CC-BY Yellow.svg Attribution Some rights reserved. Allow everything. Almost maximum diffusion. (❤️❤️)
Radio button off.png CC0 button.svg Public Domain No rights reserved at all. Not even right for proper attribution. Maximum diffusion possible. (❤️❤️❤️)
❤️ = virality of your Free Cultural work

Bozza primo contatto con Spreaker (RFC)

Questa è una bozza per il primo contatto con la società che gestisce Spreaker. Ogni aiuto è ben visto. REQUEST FOR COMMENTS.

Dear Voxnest,

I'm $GinoPina, board of Wikimedia Italia. I rappresent a local chapter related to the Wikimedia Foundation promoting Free knowledge to human beings.

Wikipedia is a website generating ~22 billion visitors, every year. People contribute to Wikipedia because it is a project open to collaboration and made to stay.

Like Wikipedia, I am writing to you because we believe your podcasting platform, Spreaker, has an huge impact on Internet and interpersonal relationships about how audio contents are widespread to the world.

Over the years, large companies such as YouTube in 2012 and Flickr (in ???) invested to give to authors new powers, somehow following the Wikipedia's philosophy: they allowed authors to choose a license, and Free Cultural Work licenses.[2][3][4]

We are available to discuss how Spreaker can contribute in this revolution. For example, allowing journalists, museums, cultural associations, institutions, whistleblowers, non-profit organizations, web-radios, to spread their voice and their work through Spreaker, allowing them to contribute to a world where people can remix their work, for example without uncomfortable written authorizations which slow down the spread of an audio podcast in some countries.

We remain at your disposal on how to best adopt Creative Commons licenses and thus contribute to this vision.

Kindly,

$GinoPina1, board of Wikimedia Italia
