On October 20th Wikimedia Italia will held its Annual Assembly in Pisa. As usual, the assembly is a public and open meeting for discussion and planning. Everyone is welcome! We will describe the projects we had made during 2012 and discuss the activities for 2013.
Wiki Loves Monuments 2012
The first Italian edition of Wiki Loves Monuments, the photo contest to document the cultural heritage, just ended. Thanks to the participation of more than 800 photographers, nearly 8000 new photos have been uploaded to Commons, so that they can be used to illustrate Wikipedia entries. As you may recall, all this has been possible thanks to an agreement signed with the Italian Ministry of Arts and Culture, which allowed us to add many sites to our competition. For the first time their photos could be published under CC BY-SA. For the competition we identified and geotagged 936 monuments in Italy, building so a first (small!) list of Italian cultural heritage. But we did not just stay behind our computers!
