Conference "State of the Map" in Brussels

Around 400 persons from all over the world got together for “State of the Map”, the OpenStreetMap Conference which this year took place at Brussels from 23 to 25 September and got also the participation of American Red Cross. During the meeting, a lot of topic have been discussed: the state of the World’s most depressed countries — where national laws often oppose the mapping —, the functioning of the instruments for OSM datas monitoring, the creation of specialized maps and the teaching of OpenStreetMap at schools. MEETmeTONIGHT event at Museo della Scienza of Milan

On the occasion of MEETmeTONIGHT, Milan edition of the European Researchers' Night, took place on Friday 30th September, at the “Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia” of Milan, the Conference “Digitalizzare la cultura” (Digitalizing the Culture). During the evening, the speakers Claudio Monteverde (Google Italia), Lorenzo Losa (Wikimedia Italia) and Oronzo Mauro (Accenture Italia) faced the topic of the relationship between cultural institutions and digital languages and instruments.

Even the 2016 edition of Wiki Loves Monuments ended in the best way! Edition after edition, we reach new goals: we are third in the World ranking for the number of photographers (983), getting a new record compared to 2015 edition (+35 photographers). Furthermore, we reach the quota of 20.573 pictures uploaded on Wikimedia Commons, very close to the 2014’s record (21.050 photos). Thanks to all the photographers, the sponsors, the partners and all the Public Authority which contributed to make this edition one of the best.



Wiki Loves Monuments pictures exhibited at Palazzo Bastogi in Firenze

On Friday 30th September, at Palazzo Bastogi in Firenze, took place the preview of the exposition EneganArt, at which took part Giuliana Mancini, Executive Director of Wikimedia Italia. Intervened also Achille Bonito Oliva and Dario Ballantini. “EneganArt” is the national contest of contemporary art organized and attended by Enegan Luce e Gas: together with the works participating in contest, this year have been exposed also the best pictures of the 2015 Edition of Wiki Loves Monuments.



Wikimania Esino Lario awarded at Sodalitas Social Award

On the occasion of Sodalitas Social Award, the annual event of “Fondazione Sodalitas” which took place on Friday 30th September, Wikimania Esino Lario, first Italian edition of Wikipedia’s World meeting, has been awarded “best multistakeholder project”. The award, dedicated to enterprises, has been collected by the partner of the meeting “Elmec Informatica”. Nevertheless, the moral winner is all the community, which enabled the organization of Wikimania Esino Lario, and all the involved sponsors and partners. Fondazione Sodalitas’ recognition encourages the organizers of Wikimania Esino Lario to cooperate for new iniziatives dedicated to the territory and the Esino Lario’s community.



Wikimedia Italia intervenes at LuBeC2016 Conference

Giuliana Mancini, Executive Director of Wikimedia Italia, intervened at the 12th Edition of the Conference LuBeC2016, during the debate “Digital Humanities: una visione per la cultura ("a vision for the culture")". Participated to the meeting also Francesco Palumbo, MiBACT Tourism General Manager, and Lorenzo Casini, law consultant of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
The Conference provided an opportunity for keep the dialogue with the Ministry representatives around the interpretation of the code of Cultural Heritage and landscape.
